Musket Fire argues the loss shows the Patriots must add explosive playmakers before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, since the 380-yard output looks thinner without Maye's own plays.

The Patriots fell 30-24 to the Bears at Soldier Field on Thursday night, as Chicago forced 16 missed tackles and out-snapped New England. Drake Maye was mostly great behind a short-handed line, but a red-zone interception swung the second quarter. "Tackling wasn't good enough," Mike Vrabel said.
NBC Sports Boston's crew gave Caleb Williams the edge over Drake Maye in a close duel. Phil Perry said the quarterback who won without turning the ball over wins "by decision," while praising Maye for making plays under heavy blitzing.
Patriots.com's film review says Maye was mostly outstanding, with 14 plus plays and +0.34 EPA per drop-back, but the offense couldn't find a go-ahead score on two fourth-quarter drives down 27-21.
Maye completed 24 of 31 for 321 yards, two touchdowns and an interception and led the team in rushing, but NBC Sports Boston says the defense and wide receivers, including A.J. Brown, didn't hold up their end.
